Bent Light, a game by Vient. Last updated October 12, 2026.
What we collect
Only what the global high scores need, plus a daily count of where visits come from. The game has no accounts, no ads, no tracking pixels and no cookies. It loads no third-party scripts, fonts or embeds.
When you play a level, the game tells our server, which stores:
- a random device id your browser made up the first time you played. It is not tied to you, your email or your device's hardware;
- the level, and when each run started and finished, by the server's clock;
- the final puzzle layout you submit (where the black holes sat and where each arrow pointed), used to check that the level really was solved;
- your best score and clear time on each level;
- the display name you choose, if you choose one.
Your display name, scores and clear times are public on the leaderboard. Until you pick a name your scores stay off it. Everything else is used only to run the leaderboard and catch cheating, and is never shared or sold. Run records are deleted after 30 days; your best score per level is kept. The game does not store IP addresses.
Visit counts
When you open the game, and again when you start your first level, the game tells our server where the visit came from: the name of the site that linked you here (for example reddit.com, never the page you were on), or the tag in a link such as ?ref=reddit. The server only adds one to that day's count of visits or plays for that source. It stores no IP address, device id or browser details for this, nothing links the count to you or to the leaderboard, and nothing is saved in your browser. Reloading the page does not count again.
If your browser sends Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track, the game does not send these counts at all.
What stays on your device
Your unlocked levels, best score per level, sound setting, chosen display name and device id are saved in your browser's local storage so you can pick up where you left off. Use "Reset progress" in the game menu to clear your progress, or clear this site's data in your browser to delete all of it. Clearing site data also drops the link between this browser and your leaderboard entries: the next time you play, you start as a new device. If you want your entries gone, use "Remove my scores" first.
Removing your data
Use "Remove my scores" at the bottom of the game menu. It deletes your scores, clear times, display name and run records from our server, and takes you off the leaderboard. Your unlocked levels and best scores in this browser stay. It has to be used from the same browser you played in, before you clear site data or switch to a new device, because that browser's device id is what links you to your entries. You can also change your name at any time from the game menu.
If you already cleared site data or lost access to that browser, contact us with your display name and, if you can, the levels you cleared.
Hosting
The site is served by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, processes your IP address and request details to deliver pages and protect against abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
